Aurora1

As the third largest water utility in Colorado, Aurora Water provides drinking water, stormwater and wastewater services to more than 350,000 customers. Aurora Water is dedicated to providing safe, dependable and sustainable water, sewer and stormwater services, today and in the future.

Aurora Water’s conservation efforts are nationally recognized and have resulted in a 30% reduction in a per capita water use since 2000. Aurora has also lead the nation in reuse, including the Prairie Waters System, a potable water system that recaptures the city’s return flows to provide drought hardening and help accommodate future demand from growth. The Prairie Waters System is also the backbone of a regional water effort, the WISE Partnership, which utilizes Aurora’s and Denver Water’s excess return flows and provides fully treated high quality water for communities in the South Metro area that are heavily dependent on non-renewable deep water aquifers.

Aurora2Aurora Water has been recognized as a water quality leader by the Partnership for Safe Water (PSW), a unique cooperative sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), National Association of Water Companies, and Association of State Drinking Water Administrators. Aurora is the first and only city to have three treatment plants recognized with the prestigious PSW “Excellence in Water Treatment” award, the highest level in the program. Only 16 treatment facilities in 13 cities nationwide have been awarded this distinction. In 2015, Aurora was awarded the AMWA Platinum Award for "Exceptional Utility Performance."
